Welcome to Tharen’s, Sydney’s first and only fancy dress, spectacular dining experience.

Since 1979 Tharen's has been holding parties and celebrations for thousands of Sydney Siders. From the old terrace house in Darlinghurst to the now Parisian inspired building in Kellett Way. Initially made famous by the outrageous hats and songs from the sound of music.

Parisian inspired changes to the decor have transformed the venue into a classically fitted, 180 person capacity living and dining room.

Implementation of themed wait staff and provided guest wigs, hats and props, engages the imagination through a nostalgic mix of fiction and fantasy, leveraging famous characters such as: Snow White, Hef's Playboy bunnies, Caribbean pirates, Dracula, Marie Antoinette, and Alice from Wonderland, to create a one-off dining experience.

From hats to feather boas, to wigs and masks Tharen's supplies everything you need to throw a Fantastic Dinner party plus much more! If you have a party to throw or a celebration to host then why not host it at Tharen's?

With a red carpet arrival, and a mystical Magician amazing you through entrees by main course at Tharen's you will be singing and dancing yourself into the night on an evening to remember. The atmosphere is paralleled to a house party, yet cuisine is 5-star and service award-winning.

Balloon Saloon are a great company who can assist you with all your decorative party needs including balloons, banners, piñatas and table arrangements because it's always a party with Balloon Saloon.

Tharen's has two regularly performing magical entertainers: Liam Power and Adam Mada, who will dazzle you throughout the evening. Their astonishing magic will have you puzzled and in awe but spreading the word of your amazement for months to come.

A soundtrack of forgotten classics and a cozy layout encourages tables to merge and it's not unusual for patrons to be found atop the theatrical bar, cocktail in hand, convinced their rendition of the 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' is best in show.

The venue caters for parties of 4 - 180 and is traditionally popular with corporate diners and celebrations, birthdays, farewells, tourist groups, hen's nights, Christmas parties but caters for any group occasion.

Tharen's Restaurant, operating in King's Cross since 1979, has undergone mass redevelopment during the off-peak (post Christmas) period to reposition itself as Sydney’s first and only fantasy dining experience.

Parisian inspired changes to the décor have transformed the venue into a classically fitted, 180 person capacity living and dining room. Implementation of themed wait staff and provided guest costumes engages the imagination through a nostalgic mix of fiction and fantasy, leveraging famous characters such as: Snow White, Hef’s Playboy bunnies, Caribbean pirates, Dracula, Marie Antoinette, Alice from Wonderland, etc. to create a one-off dining experience.

The night commences with a personal greeting from the host, Tharen, herself, who welcomes, serves and entertains patrons throughout the night in her fantasy inspired living room.
